Anderson Valley Brewing and Wild Turkey have joined forces, agreeing to a partnership that will give AV access to “hundreds rather than a handful of barrels” previously used to age various Wild Turkey products. AV will exclusively use Wild Turkey barrels for their barrel aging process, the first of which will be a Bourbon barrel aged version of their delicious Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout. The beers that will be created through this program will be draft only, with an eye on bottling down the line.
I have absolutely no opinion on the fact that they’ll be using Wild Turkey barrels. I’ve never tried any of their products (though friends who have have not seemed impressed). But I do have an opinion on the fact that AV will be making more BA beers, and that opinion is “Yea!” AV makes some great beers, and I have no doubt that they will make some great BA beers through this program. That’s Bahl Hornin’ for sure.
